Terms of Sale

Agreement

These Terms of Sale (“Terms”) govern your use of the Apollo Lamps storefront at apollolamps.com and your purchase of any product offered through it. The site is operated by Grad School Alternative LLC, a California limited liability company with its business address at 445 N Pine St, Orange, CA 92866 (“we,” “us,” “our”). By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under applicable law to place an order. By placing an order, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

Accounts

The store does not require an account. Basic status is available using the order ID shown at checkout (it looks like LAMP-XXXXXXXXXXXX). To open the full order view — design, totals, tracking, cancellation, and support messages — we email a one-time verification code to the address on the order; entering it on the order page opens the same view the secure link we email you opens. Access always runs through the inbox on the order: an order ID or email address typed alone never opens more than delivery progress. If you no longer have the order ID, entering your email address on the order page works the same way — a code sent to that address shows its orders. We also email the address on the order whenever an order is cancelled and, if an order is cancelled by mistake, let you place it again from that email — the design, colour and discount code are kept.

Made-to-order products

Every Apollo Lamp is made to order from the design you create in our browser-based designer. After you order, we produce your shade in the color you chose, pair it with a Baltic-birch cap and base, install integrated lighting with tap-to-power and built-in dimming, and assemble it by hand. A USB-C cable and wall adapter are included.

The live 3D preview in the designer is an accurate representation of the design you configured, but it is a render, not a photograph. Because each lamp is individually made and assembled, small natural variations — subtle surface texture, slight differences in color and translucency, and minor variation in the wood grain of the Baltic-birch components — are inherent to the process and are not defects. Colors may also appear differently between screens. Dimensions and weights are approximate.

Pricing

All prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable sales tax and shipping, which are calculated at checkout. We may change prices at any time, but the price that applies to your order is the one shown at checkout when you place it. We reserve the right to cancel orders affected by pricing or stock errors; if your order is cancelled for this reason, we’ll refund any charge in full.

Placing an order

Your submission of an order is an offer to buy the lamp you designed. We accept your offer when we confirm the order by email and begin preparing it for production. Up to that point, we may decline or modify the order for any lawful reason, including suspected fraud, capacity issues, or pricing errors.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe (card and Apple Pay / Google Pay) or PayPal, depending on the method you choose. When you place an order, your payment method is first authorised (a hold is placed) and is charged when your lamp goes into production (or, if your order waits in our queue for several days, shortly before the authorisation would expire). If you cancel before production starts, the authorisation is released and nothing is charged — or, if the charge has already been taken, it is refunded in full — see the Returns & Refunds Policy. We do not see or store your full card number, expiry, or CVC. If a payment fails, we may cancel the order without further notice. Gift purchases work differently: a gift is a prepaid claim, so your card is charged in full at purchase. There is no self-serve cancellation for gifts — to cancel one, message us from your order page, and a gift that has not yet been claimed is refunded in full.

Shipping

Shipping terms — including where we ship, processing times, carriers, costs, tracking, lost packages, and damaged-in-transit claims — are set out in our Shipping Policy.

Returns and refunds

Because every lamp is custom made to order, returns work differently than for an off-the-shelf product. Your refund options — the cancellation window before production, and replacements or refunds for damaged or defective items — are set out in full in our Returns & Refunds Policy.

Order cancellations

Because your lamp isn’t made until you order it, there’s a cancellation window: you can cancel for a full refund at any time before your lamp goes into production, from the order page — using either the secure link we email you or your order ID plus a one-time verification code emailed to the address on the order. When an order is cancelled we send a confirmation to the email address on the order. A cancellation is final once made; if it was a mistake, the same email lets you place the order again. Production never begins immediately after an order — your order page shows how long you are guaranteed to have to cancel free of charge. Once production has started, the order can no longer be cancelled and all sales are final except for damaged or defective items, as described in the Returns & Refunds Policy.

Intellectual property

The site, including its text, graphics, photographs, the designer tool, product designs, names, and arrangement, is owned by Grad School Alternative LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trade-mark, and other intellectual-property laws. Nothing on the site grants you any licence to reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from it without our written permission, except as permitted by fair use, fair dealing, or other applicable law.

Customer submissions (gallery & reviews)

Verified buyers can submit content to our public gallery — a name for their lamp, a star rating, review text, a display name, and photographs ("submissions"). By submitting, you confirm the content is yours to share, and you grant Grad School Alternative LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and adapt (for example, crop or resize) your submission on apollolamps.com and in our marketing materials, in each case in connection with Apollo Lamps. You keep ownership of your content, and this licence is the only right you grant us.

Submissions are reviewed before publication, and we may decline or remove any submission at our discretion. To request edits to or removal of a published submission, email support@apollolamps.com and we will take it down promptly; previously printed or distributed marketing materials may remain in circulation. Do not submit content that infringes anyone’s rights, identifies private individuals without their consent, or is unlawful.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Disclaimers

The website is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties relating to the site itself, and we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Our lamps. We stand behind what we make: the coverage we provide for lamps that arrive damaged, are defective, or aren’t what you ordered is set out in our Returns & Refunds Policy. Beyond that coverage, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, the products are sold without other warranties, express or implied. Nothing in these Terms waives or limits any warranty or consumer right that cannot be waived under the law of your state. In particular, if you are a California consumer, your rights under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act — including the implied warranty of merchantability — are not affected by these Terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grad School Alternative LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site or any product purchased through it. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms or any order will not exceed the amount you paid for the product giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grad School Alternative LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or damages — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the site, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute is the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer-protection right you may have under the law of your state or country of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page when you place an order is the version that applies to that order. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
